Brent Wellsch

Systems Strategy and Forecasting

As the lead for the Solutions Lab at Urban Matters, Brent Wellsch champions social innovation. He is dedicated to helping clients embrace ambiguity, reframe perspectives on complex issues, and apply unique new solutions. Brent has used his skills to support clients on a wide range of issues, including energy transition and climate change, early childhood education, family justice reform, diversity and inclusion, and more. A systemic designer and strategist, Brent comes to Urban Matters from the Government of Alberta, where he helped to establish the Alberta CoLab, one of Canada’s first public-sector innovation labs. He possesses a Bachelor of Arts-Honors from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master of Arts from Dalhousie University with a focus in International Relations/Development.
